After the tragic attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984, the brave but often overlooked heroes of the Sikh community took up arms, following the teachings of the Gurus, and valiantly fought against the Indian forces. The ruling Hindutva leaders of India believed that the Sikhs would cower in fear and submit after the Army assaulted the Golden Temple, never daring to resist. However, the Khalistani fighters, true to the teachings of the Gurus, unfurled the flag of Khalsa sovereignty in Punjab, defying all odds and creating a glorious chapter in Sikh history by defeating the enemies of the Panth.
During this period, every home in Punjab became a fortress, echoing the spirit of Anandgarh and Chamkaur. In the Malwa region, under the leadership of the Khalistan Liberation Force’s General, the revered martyr Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala, Bhai Baldev Singh Deba emerged as a fearless warrior, making unparalleled sacrifices for the Khalistan cause. His family, too, endured the brutalities of government torture. Sadly, the sacrifices of these martyrs remain largely unknown to today’s generation.
Birth & Early Life
Shaheed Bhai Baldev Singh Deba was born on March 2, 1965, in the village of Dhurkot Kalan, District Moga, to Mother Surjit Kaur and Father Jathedar S. Kapoor Singh. Bhai Baldev Singh showed great courage and agility from a young age, and his family raised him with much love and care. He was the fifth of six siblings and had completed eight grades at a government school in his village.
Meeting with Sant Bhindranwale
In 1983, Bhai Baldev Singh, accompanied by the Sangat from his village, visited Sri Darbar Sahib in Amritsar and met Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, the fourteenth leader of Damdami Taksal. Sant Ji warmly welcomed Bhai Baldev Singh on the Langar Hall’s roof and addressed the Sangat, discussing the challenging circumstances and how to respond to government oppression. He encouraged the youth to prepare themselves for armed resistance.
Expressing his dedication, Bhai Baldev Singh said, “Sant Ji, I am here to serve the Panth with my life. Please allow me to serve as you see fit. I am prepared to lay down my life for the Panth and to punish those who betray it.”
Sant Ji assured him, saying, “When the time comes, Guru Sahib will call upon you for service. Always recite Gurbani.” After this meeting, Bhai Baldev Singh returned to his village but remained active in the Dharam Yudh Morcha and maintained a close relationship with Sant Bhindranwale.
Activities Post June 1984
In June 1984, the Indian government, like the Mughals and Afghans before them, attacked Sri Darbar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib with tanks and guns. The parkarma and sarovar were stained red with the blood of thousands of Sikhs, including Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and other Singhs who became martyrs, sparking widespread outrage.
Learning of this tragedy, Bhai Baldev Singh was deeply disturbed, and a sense of rebellion against the government ignited in his heart, much like other Sikh youngsters at the time. He, too, felt compelled to fight for Khalistan’s freedom and began collaborating secretly with the Kharku Singhs in his area.
Anand Karaj
As Bhai Sahib’s family began pressuring him to marry, he had already made up his mind to sacrifice his life for the Panthic cause. Despite his reluctance, Bhai Baldev Singh agreed to marry at the insistence of his relatives. On January 21, 1985, he married Bibi Darshan Kaur from Mubarakpur village, in proper Guru Mariyada. Shortly after the wedding, Bhai Baldev Singh came to the attention of the police.
Arrest and Brutal Torture
Bhai Baldev Singh Deba, along with Bhai Balveer Singh and Bhai Pal Singh, was surrounded and arrested by the police from Baghapurana police station in Moga District Court. They were held in custody for three months, enduring brutal torture, before being falsely charged and transferred to Faridkot jail. Later, the police from Police Station Mehna took Bhai Baldev Singh on remand from the jail and subjected him to further inhuman torture, questioning him about various Kharku activities.
After some time, Bhai Sahib was transferred to Ghal Kalan police station, where Bhai Baldev Singh endured more torture, including having his thighs torn and pepper poured on them, being hung by his legs, and beaten. Despite the severe torture, Bhai Sahib remained steadfast, reciting the ‘Chopai Sahib’ Path, and refused to reveal any secrets of the organization. Failing to extract any information, the police transferred Bhai Baldev Singh to Sangrur Jail.
In Sangrur Jail, Bhai Baldev Singh connected with many Kharku Singhs, and together, they planned future strategies for the Kharku Struggle.
Sold Land for Release
The family of Bhai Baldev Singh Deba sold their farmland to bribe police officials and secure Bhai Baldev Singh’s release on bail after two and a half years of imprisonment. Despite his release, the police continued to harass him relentlessly, causing ongoing distress.
Arrested Again from His House
When the Khalistan Liberation Force fighters, led by Jathedar Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala, carried out a significant operation against RSS members in Nehru Park, Moga, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals and many injuries, tensions escalated. Following this incident, Bhai Baldev Singh was targeted. Punjab Police and CRPF surrounded his house, creating a commotion by firing shots and waking up the entire village.
During the night, Bhai Baldev Singh Deba was arrested from his home. The next morning, the village panchayat intervened, going to the Moga police station and securing Bhai Baldev Singh’s release.
Exchanging Turbans with Bhai Khukhrana
Bhai Baldev Singh Deba held Jathedar Bhai Gurjant Singh Buddhasingh Wala and Bhai Kulwant Singh Khukhrana of the Khalistan Liberation Force in high regard. He had told the organization’s members, “I am not married.” This was because those who were married had family responsibilities and were advised by the organization to remain at home unless absolutely necessary, so as not to jeopardize their families.
While traveling in the area at night with fighters like Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala, Bhai Kulwant Singh Khukhrana, Bhai Lakha Singh Dhalleke, Bhai Darshan Singh Billa, Bhai Balwant Singh Takhanbadh, Bhai Manjit Singh Mini-Baba ect, they all visited the house of Bhai Baldev Singh Deba for langar. It was during this visit that the Jathebandi members learned that Bhai Baldev Singh was indeed married.
Bhai Kulwant Singh Khukhrana firmly advised, “Bhai Baldev Singh, you should stay at home now. A garden without a gardener withers away. Baldev Singh has already endured much torture in his village, and his son Navdeep Singh is only 9 months old.” However, Bhai Baldev Singh remained resolute in his commitment to serve in the Khalistan struggle, declaring that he would not retreat now. He believed that Guru Sahib himself would protect his family. Bhai Kulwant Singh Khukhrana reiterated that it was the decision of all the Singhs that Baldev Singh would serve the Panth by staying at home.
Bhai Baldev Singh Deba proposed, “I will accept this if Bhai Kulwant Singh Khukhrana exchanges his turban and becomes my brother”. That night, both Bhai Kulwant Singh Khukhrana and Bhai Baldev Singh Deba exchanged their turbans, and Kulwant Singh joyfully distributed sweets to all the Singhs.
At daybreak, as Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala and Bhai Kulwant Singh Khukhrana prepared to depart after exchanging Guru Fateh, Bhai Baldev Singh exclaimed, “You became my brother by exchanging turbans last night, and now you’re leaving your brother alone at home? I cannot bear to be separated from my brothers.” Moved by his words, everyone embraced each other. With his family’s permission, Bhai Baldev Singh Deba also accompanied Jathedar Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala and never returned home.
Police Brutality: Breaking the Leg of a Nine-Month-Old Child
When Bhai Baldev Singh Deba embraced guerrilla life, the police intensified their harassment of his family. Mother Surjit Kaur and brother Sukhdev Singh were taken by the Mehna Police Station officers and tortured to reveal Bhai Baldev Singh’s whereabouts.
Bibi Darshan Kaur, Bhai Baldev Singh’s wife, and their nine-month-old son Navdeep Singh were forcibly taken from their home by the Mehna Police Station officers. Upon learning of this, the Sangat of Dala village quickly gathered and stopped the police bus, protesting for the release of Bibi Darshan Kaur and Navdeep Singh. However, the insensitive police officers disregarded the people’s demands.
During the journey, the police stopped the bus on a canal bridge, where they verbally abused Bibi Darshan Kaur and began assaulting her with rifle butts. In a display of brutality reminiscent of the Mughal ruler Mir Manu, the Punjab police officers snatched the nine-month-old baby from Bibi Darshan Kaur’s arms and ruthlessly struck him with the bus’s tire. The child’s leg was broken, and his screams pierced the sky. Overwhelmed with anguish, Bibi Darshan Kaur forcefully freed her arm from the policemen, embraced her crying child, and held him close to her chest.
Despite receiving medical treatment, Navdeep Singh’s leg has not fully healed to this day, leaving him with a lifelong disability.
After being taken to the Mehna police station, Bibi Darshan Kaur was locked up, and her child, with a broken leg, cried incessantly in front of his imprisoned mother, day and night.
Police Set Fire to Home
Bibi Darshan Kaur, who endured police torture, was forced to leave her home and stay with relatives for many months. Bhai Baldev Singh’s house was converted into a police post. Despite police raids throughout Punjab, they failed to capture Bhai Sahib. As a last resort, the police looted valuables from Bhai Baldev Singh Deba’s house, poured kerosene, set it ablaze, and left the dairy animals roaming free in the village.
Actions Against Traitors of the Panth
During the armed struggle, Bhai Baldev Singh Deba actively participated in several key operations with fighters from the Khalistan Liberation Force and Khalistan Commando Force.
- In the Jagraon encounter, alongside Bhai Kulwant Singh Khukhrana, they targeted CRPF vehicles.
- In Barnala town, six corrupt policemen from the Sadar police station met their fate.
- During the Badowal Encounter, Bhai Gurjant Singh BudhSinghwala, Bhai Gurcharan Singh Mehna, Bhai Chamkaur Singh Dala, and Bhai Baldev Singh Deba broke through the siege, escaping while many police officials lost their lives.
- Shaheed Bhai Baldev Singh Deba played a crucial role in eliminating many Police CATs (Counterinsurgency Assault Team), traitors, informants, and those who betrayed the Panth, and Indian forces.
Humility and Courage
Bhai Baldev Singh possessed great humility and courage. He would often single-handedly raid police stations, never seeking recognition. He avoided mentioning his name in newspapers, showing his humility. He remained devoted to reading Gurbani constantly. After taking Amrit, he strictly followed his Nitnem (daily prayers), never missing the Amrit vela (early morning prayer time).
Before and after every operation, he prayed and thanked the Satgurus (Akalpurkh). He was always by the side of Jathedar Bhai Gurjant Singh Budh Singh Wala and Bhai Kulwant Singh Khukhrana. Despite facing ruin and the oppression of his family, Bhai Baldev Singh remained steadfast, and unwavering in his Panthic goal. He dressed and spoke modestly, showing foresight in his thinking. He was skilled in both weapon use and strategy, earning a reputation as a fearsome adversary, akin to death, for his enemies.
Martyrdom –28th July 1991
Bhai Baldev Singh Deba, Bhai Manjit Singh Dala, Bhai Chamkaur Singh Dala, and Bhai Gurcharan Singh were taken to a farmhouse in village Kapura by a police informer named Banta Singh, who pretended to sympathize with the Kharku Singhs but was actually working with the police.
Under the guise of bringing meals for the Singhs, Banta Singh left and informed the police about their location. Upon receiving the news at 7:30 pm, SHO Harcharan Singh of Police Station Mehna, along with a large number of police personnel, headed towards village Kapoor. The police surrounded the farmhouse, and when the Singhs realized this, they took up arms, took positions, and shouted slogans of “Bole So Nihal…Sat Sri Akal…” and “Khalistan Zindabad.”
The Kharkus emerged from the farmhouse and took the position in the pasture farms. When the police advanced, the Kharkus responded with AK 47 rifles. The police, fearing for their lives, lay on the ground until it was dark. In the darkness, they retreated and hid behind objects, continuing to fire at the Singhs.
Realizing that they might escape under the cover of darkness, SHO Harcharan Singh called SHO Kashmir Singh of Police Station Sadar Moga for reinforcements. Gunman Dalbara Singh Havildar of Moga DSP and BSF also arrived at the site with armed personnel. From the evening of July 27th, 1991, until ten o’clock in the morning on July 28th, 1991, the Singhs engaged in a fierce encounter with the Indian forces for approximately fifteen hours.
Bhai Baldev Singh fought with great zeal and fearlessness throughout the night, defending against any attempt by the forces to advance. With limited weapons, the Singhs fought bravely. The people of the area witnessed the bravery of the Kharkus as they fought against the police, who hid behind cover.
At dawn, Bhai Gurcharan Singh Mehna and Bhai Chamkaur Singh Dala managed to escape by breaking through the police cordon when a large herd of cows passed by. However, Bhai Baldev Singh Deba and Bhai Manjit Singh Dala, surrounded by the police, fought until they ran out of ammunition and attained martyrdom at the feet of the Guru.
Aftermath
In honor of Shaheed Bhai Baldev Singh Deba and Shaheed Bhai Manjit Singh Dala, the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib was conducted on August 6, 1991, in villages Dhurkot Kalan and Dala. A tribute was published in the newspapers by Jathedar Bhai Gurjant Singh BudhSinghwala, Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Bhai Paramjit Singh Panjwar, and Bhai Kuljit Singh Moga, inviting the Sikh Sangat to join in the Ardaas ceremony. However, the police and CRPF surrounded the area and imposed curfew-like conditions, allowing only the villagers to attend the prayer services for the martyrs. Relatives were also stopped by the police at checkpoints and turned away.
Revenge for Martyrdom
Twenty days after the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhai Baldev Singh Deba and Shaheed Bhai Manjit Singh Dala, Bhai Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala and his companions attacked Thana Mehna. They challenged and eliminated an ASI and three policemen in the market in the afternoon. Additionally, they avenged the martyrs by punishing police CAT Banta Sinh for his betrayal.
Despite being handicapped by a leg injury inflicted by police atrocities at just 9 months old, S. Navdeep Singh, the son of Shaheed Bhai Baldev Singh Deba, actively participates in every front and sectarian activity of the Sikh community with enthusiasm, following in his father’s footsteps. The police attempted to implicate Navdeep Singh in several cases, but he was saved by the grace of the eternal God.

ਜੂਨ 1984 ‘ਚ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਹਮਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਅਣਖੀ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੱਥਾਂ ‘ਚ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਏ ਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਫੋਰਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੱਕ ‘ਚ ਦਮ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਹਿੰਦੂਤਵੀ ਹੁਕਮਰਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਘਲੂਘਾਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਾਡੇ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਬਣ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਬਾਗ਼ੀ ਸੁਰ ਅਪਨਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਜੁਰਅਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਪਰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਪੈਰੋਕਾਰ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਜੁਝਾਰੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਰ-ਧੜ ਦੀ ਬਾਜੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਦੇਸ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਧਰਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਖਾਲਸਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂਸਤਾ ਦਾ ਝੰਡਾ ਬੁਲੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਫਾਇਆ ਕਰਕੇ ਸੁਨਹਿਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਸਿਰਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਇਹ ਉਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ- ਇੱਕ ਘਰ ਅਨੰਦਗੜ੍ਹ ਦਾ ਕਿਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਚਮਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਮਾਲਵੇ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਲਿਬਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਫੋਰਸ ਦੇ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਅਮਰ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੁਧਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਂਡ ਹੇਠ ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ‘ਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਜੁਝਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਨੇ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ ਤੇ ਓਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ ਦੀ ਹਨ੍ਹੇਰੀ ਝੁਲੀ ਪਰ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਵੇਸਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ
ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 2 ਮਾਰਚ 1965 ਨੂੰ ਮਾਤਾ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਸ. ਕਪੂਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿਖੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਧੂੜਕੋਟ ਕਲਾਂ, ਅਜੋਕਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਮੋਗਾ ‘ਚ ਹੋਇਆ। ਬਚਪਨ ‘ਚ ਹੀ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਫੁਰਤੀਲਾ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਘਰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਲਾਡ-ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਿਆ। ਛੇ ਭੈਣ-ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ‘ਚੋਂ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੰਜਵੇਂ ਨੰਬਰ ‘ਤੇ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਠ ਕਲਾਸਾਂ ਪਾਸ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
ਸੰਤ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲ਼ਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ
ਸੰਨ 1983 ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਓਥੇ ਦਮਦਮੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਚੌਦਵੇਂ ਮੁਖੀ ਸੰਤ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਹੋਇਆ। ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੰਗਰ ਹਾਲ ਦੀ ਉੱਪਰਲੀ ਛੱਤ ‘ਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਗਲਵਕੜੀ ‘ਚ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਕੱਠ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਹਾਲਾਤਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਏ ਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ‘ਚ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਨਜਿੱਠਣਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਬਾਬਤ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਸਤਰਧਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤਿਆਰ-ਬਰ-ਤਿਆਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਆ।
ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ “ਸੰਤ ਜੀ, ਦਾਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਪੰਥ ਲਈ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਨੇ ਜਥੇ’ ਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੋ। ਜੋ ਕਹੋਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਦੀ ਹਿੱਕ ਚੀਰ ਕੇ ਆਂਦਰਾਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗਾ ….। ”
ਸੰਤਾ ਨੇ ਬਚਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ “ਸਿੰਘ, ਸਮਾਂ ਆਉਣ ‘ਤੇ ਬਾਜਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਏਗਾ, ਹਰ ਦਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਕਰ।” ਫਿਰ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਿੰਡ ਆ ਗਏ ਪਰ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਉਣ-ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਸਬੰਧ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਧਰਮ ਯੁੱਧ ਮੋਰਚੇ ‘ਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ।
ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਲਈ ਸਰਗਰਮ
ਮੁਗ਼ਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਫ਼ਗਾਨਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਜੂਨ 1984 ਸੰਤ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਭਿੰਡਰਾਂਵਾਲੇ ਚ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਉੱਤੇ ਟੈਂਕਾਂ-ਤੋਪਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੂਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਕਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਲਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਚਾਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਹਾਹਾਕਾਰ ਮੱਚ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਕਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਦਿਆਂ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਵਲੂੰਧਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਦਿਨ ‘ਚ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਵਿਦਰੋਹ ਪੈ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ‘ਚ ਲੜੋ ਜਾਂ ਮਰੋ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਲਈ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਚੁਣ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਜੁਝਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਗੁਪਤ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਸਰਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ।
ਅਨੰਦ ਕਾਰਜ
ਇਧਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਾਰਜ ਲਈ ਜੋਰ ਪਾਉਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਪਰ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਮਿੱਥ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਸਨ। ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕਰਨ ‘ਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ, ਵਿਆਹ ਲਈ ਰਾਜੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਾਰਜ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਮਰਿਯਾਦਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ 21 ਜਨਵਰੀ 1985 ਨੂੰ ਬੀਬੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ (ਪਿੰਡ ਮੁਬਾਰਕਪੁਰ) ਨਾਲ ਹੋਇਆ। ਅਨੰਦ ਕਾਰਜ ਤੋਂ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਲਦ ਹੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਚ ਆ ਗਏ। ਆਪ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਇਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਵਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਜਨਮ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਗਿਰਫਤਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਹਿਸ਼ੀਆਨਾ ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ
ਥਾਣਾ ਬਾਘਾਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਦੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ, ਭਾਈ ਬਲਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਗੇ ਦੀ ਕਚਹਿਰੀ ਚ ਘੇਰਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਗਿਰਫਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ‘ਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਵਹਿਸ਼ੀਆਨਾ ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਝੂਠੇ ਕੇਸ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਫਰੀਦਕੋਟ ਦੀ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਫਿਰ ਥਾਣਾ ਮਹਿਣਾ ਦੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਮਾਂਡ ਤੇ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਕਈ ਕਾਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਤੇ ਅਣਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਤਸੀਹੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਫਿਰ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਥਾਣਾ ਮਹਿਣਾ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਘੱਲ ਕਲਾਂ ਥਾਣੇ ਲੈ ਗਏ।
ਓਥੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਪੱਟ ਚੀਰ ਕੇ ਮਿਰਚਾਂ ਪਾਈਆਂ, ਪੁੱਠਾ ਟੰਗ ਕੇ ਕੁੱਟਿਆ। ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਲਾਲ ‘ਚੌਪਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ` ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੜਦਾ ‘ਰਿਹਾ ਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਹਰ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਘੋਰ ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ ਕਰਕੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ‘ਚੋਂ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਨਾ ਕਢਵਾ ਸਕੀ। ਜਦ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਗਰੂਰ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ‘ਚ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਸੰਗਰੂਰ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ‘ਚ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਾ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕਾਫੀ ਜੁਝਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੇ ਜੇਲ ਚ ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੀ ਅਗਲੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਸੀ।
ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਵੇਚ ਕੇ ਰਿਹਾਈ ਕਰਵਾਈ
ਢਾਈ ਸਾਲ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਕਿੱਲਾ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਵੇਚ ਕੇ ਬੜੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ‘ਤੇ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ। ਪਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਖਹਿੜਾ ਨਾ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਤੇ ਨਿਤ ਦਿਨ ਤੰਗ-ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ।
ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰੀ
ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੁੱਧਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ‘ਚ ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਲਿਬਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਫ਼ੋਰਸ ਦੇ ਜੁਝਾਰੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਦ ਮੋਗੇ ਦੀ ਨਹਿਰੂ ਪਾਰਕ ‘ਚ ਆਰ.ਐੱਸ.ਐੱਸ. ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਬੰਬਾਂ-ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਰ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ 12 ਬੰਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ।ਇਸ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਿੰਘ-ਸੂਰਮੇ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾਈ ਜੇਕਾਰੇ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਨਿਕਲ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਓਸੇ ਰਾਤ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਸੀ.ਆਰ.ਪੀ. ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਫਾਇਰਿੰਗ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਤ ਘਰੋਂ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਗਈ। ਦਿਨ ਚੜ੍ਹਨ ‘ਤੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਮੋਗੇ ਥਾਣੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾ ਕੇ ਲਿਆਈ।
ਭਾਈ ਖੁਖਰਾਣਾ ਨਾਲ ਪੱਗ ਵਟਾਈ
ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਲਿਬਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਫੋਰਸ ਦੇ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੁੱਧਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੁਖਰਾਣਾ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ “ਮੇਰਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਾਰਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ।” ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤੀ ਮਾਰਗ ‘ਚ ਪੈ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਘਰ-ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ-ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਤਿਆਗਣ ਦੀ ਹਦਾਇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਲੋੜ ਪੈਣ ‘ਤੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਪਤ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਲਈਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
ਇਲਾਕੇ ‘ਚ ਵਿਚਰਦਿਆਂ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਦੇ ਜੁਝਾਰੂ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੁੱਧਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ, ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੁਖਰਾਣਾ , ਭਾਈ ਲੱਖਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਧੱਲੇਕੇ, ਭਾਈ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਿੱਲਾ, ਭਾਈ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਖਾਣਬੱਧ, ਭਾਈ ਮਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਿੰਨੀ-ਬਾਬਾ ਆਦਿ ਨਾਲ ਲੰਗਰ ਛਕਣ ਆਏ। ਜਥੇਬੰਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਤਾ ਲਗ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਤਾਂ ਵਿਆਹਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੁਖਰਾਣਾ ਨੇ ਬੜੀ ਸਖ਼ਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ” ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਹੁਣ ਅੱਜ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਰਹੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮਾਲੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਬਾਗ਼ ਵੀਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡੇ ‘ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ ਝੱਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨਵਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਹਾਲੇ ਉਮਰ ਵੀ ਮਸਾਂ 9 ਕੁ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਰ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ‘ਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ਮੁੜ ਦੁਹਰਾਈ ਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟਾਂਗਾ… । ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੁਖਰਾਣਾ ਨੇ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ” ਸਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਹੁਣ ਘਰ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਕੌਮੀ ਸੇਵਾ ‘ਚ ਬਣਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਪਾਵੇਗਾ।”
ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ” ਜੇ ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੁਖਰਾਣਾ ਪੱਗ ਵਟਾ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਮੰਨ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ।” ਉਸ ਰਾਤ ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੁਖਰਾਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਦਸਤਾਰਾਂ ਵਟਾਈ ਤੇ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਚ ਮਿੱਠੀਆਈ ਖਵਾਈ ।
ਦਿਨ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਦ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੁੱਧਸਿੰਘਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੁਖਰਾਣਾ, ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਫਤਹਿ ਗਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਾਲੇ ਪਾਉਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ” ਰਾਤ ਪਗ ਵਟਾ ਕੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਬਣੇ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਲਿਆਂ ਘਰ ਛੱਡ ਚਲ ਓ”। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ-ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਘੁੱਟ-ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਜੱਫੀਆਂ ਪਾਈਆਂ। ਫਿਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਆਗਿਆ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਵੀ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੁਧਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਘਰ ਨਾ ਆਇਆ।
ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਨੌਂ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਲੱਤ ਭੰਨੀ
ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਜਦ ਰੂਪੋਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਬਹੁਤ ਤੰਗ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹੀ। ਮਾਤਾ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਤੇ ਭਰਾ ਸੁਖਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਥਾਣਾ ਮਹਿਣਾ ਦੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅੱਗੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ।
ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਸਿੰਘਣੀ ਬੀਬੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੌਂ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨਵਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਥਾਣਾ ਮਹਿਣਾ ਦੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਘਰੋਂ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਿਆ। ਜਦ ਡਾਲਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਨੇ ਪਲਾਂ ‘ਚ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀ ਬੱਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਲਿਆ । ਜਦ ਝਾਲਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਗਨ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਨੇ ਪਲਾਂ ‘ਚ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀ ਬੱਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬੀਬੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਤੇ ਬਚੇ ਨਵਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਚੋਂ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪਰ ਹੰਕਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਫਸਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਰਸਤੇ ‘ਚ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਸੂਏ ਦੇ ਪੁਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੱਸ ਰੋਕੀ ਤੇ ਬੀਬੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੂੰ ਥੱਲੇ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲੇ ਤੇ ਬੀਬੀ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਰਫ਼ਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਟ ਮਾਰਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਮੁਗ਼ਲ ਹਾਕਮ ਮੀਰ ਮਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਜੁਲਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਮਾਤ ਪਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਬੀਬੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਚੋਂ ਨੌਂ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਜਿਹੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਹ ਕੇ ਜੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਬੱਸ ਦੇ ਟਾਇਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰਿਆ। ਮਸੂਮ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਲੱਤ ਦੀ ਹੱਡੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈ ਤੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਪਾੜਦੀਆਂ ਚੀਕਾਂ ਨਿਕਲੀਆਂ । ਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੂਹ ਕੰਬ ਗਈ, ਬੀਬੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਧੱਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੁਲਸੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਛਡਾਈ ਤੇ ਰੋਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੀਨੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਇਆ।
ਹੱਡੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਬੱਚੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਪੀੜ ਜਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਤੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਦਾ ਰੋ-ਰੋ ਕੇ ਬੁਰਾ ਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। (ਨੋਟ- ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਅੱਜ ਤਕ ਵੀ ਨਵਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਲਤ ਠੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੀ, ਉਹ ਜਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਲੰਗੜਾ ਕੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ )।
ਥਾਣਾ ਮਹਿਣਾ ਲਿਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਬੀਬੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਵਾਲਾਤ ‘ਚ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਲੱਤ ਭੰਨੀ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਬੱਚਾ ਦਿਨ-ਰਾਤ ਸਲਾਖ਼ਾਂ ‘ਚ ਕੈਦ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਤੜਫਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਲੱਗਾਈ
ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਤਾਈ ਬੀਬੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੂੰ ਘਰੋਂ ਬੇ-ਘਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਪਿਆ, ਕਈ ਮਹੀਨ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਂ ‘ਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਚੌਂਕੀ ਹੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ। ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਨ ਲਈ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਚੱਪਾ-ਚੱਪਾ ਛਾਣ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਬਾਜ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਗਿਦੜ ਟੋਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਾ ਆਇਆ। ਆਖਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਸਮਾਨ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ‘ਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਤੇਲ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਤੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿੰਡ ਚ ਖੁੱਲਿਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਧਾਈ
ਹਥਿਆਰਬੰਦ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਨੇ ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਲਿਬਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਫ਼ੋਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਕਮਾਂਡੋ ਫੋਰਸ ਦੇ ਜੁਝਾਰੂਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਈ ਚੋਟੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਵਾਈਆਂ ‘ਚ ਵੱਧ-ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ।
- ਜਗਰਾਂਉ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ‘ਚ ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੁਖਰਾਣਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੀ.ਆਰ.ਪੀ. ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਬੰਬ ਨਾਲ ਉਡਾ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ।
- ਬਰਨਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ‘ਚ ਸਦਰ ਥਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਛੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਪੁਲਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਰਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਿਕਟਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ।
- ਬਦੋਵਾਲ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਚ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੁੱਧਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਹਿਣਾ, ਭਾਈ ਚਮਕੌਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਡਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਵੀ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਧਾੜਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੱਥਰ ਵਿਛਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਚਾਰੇ ਜੂਝਾਰੂ ਘੇਰਾ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲੇ।
- ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਕੈਟਾਂ, ਗੱਦਾਰਾਂ, ਟਾਊਟਾਂ, ਪੰਥ ਦੋਖੀਆਂ, ਬੁੱਚੜਾਂ ਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਫ਼ਸਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨੀ ਫੋਰਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਜ ਕੇ ਸੁਧਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦਲੇਰੀ
ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਸੁਭਾਅ ‘ਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਦਲੇਰੀ ਵੀ ਐਨੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਕੱਲੇ ਹੀ ਥਾਣੇ ‘ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਧਾਵਾ ਬੋਲ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਜਤਾਇਆ। ਐਕਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਲੈਣ ਸਮੇਂ ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰਾਂ ‘ਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਂਅ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੇਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ‘ਚ ਰੱਤੀ ਭਰ ਵੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਂ ਚਮਕਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਹਰ ਦਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੜਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਛਕਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਿਤਨੇਮ ਤੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਖੁੰਝਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਹਰ ਐੱਕਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ‘ਚ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਕਰਾਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।
ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੁੱਧਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੁਖਰਾਣਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪਰਛਾਵੇਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਰਹੇ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ-ਬਾਰ ਉੱਜੜ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਦੇ ਝੱਖੜ ਝੁਲੇ ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਡੋਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੇ ਵੱਲ ਵੱਧਦੇ ਗਏ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਲ-ਚਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਧਾਰਨ ਸੀ। ਘੱਟ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਦੂਰ-ਅੰਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਸੋਚ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਸਨ। ਪੰਜਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤਾਲੀ ਵਾਹੁਣੀ ਉਹ ਬਾਖੂਬੀ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਸਨ, ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਕਾਲ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਸਨ।

ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ, ਭਾਈ ਮਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਡਾਲਾ, ਭਾਈ ਚਮਕੌਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਡਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੁਖ਼ਬਰ ਬੰਤਾ ਸਿਹੁੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਢਾਣੀ ‘ਤੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਕਪੂਰੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਬੰਤਾ ਸਿਹੁੰ ਉੱਪਰੋਂ ਵਿਖਾਵਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਜੁਝਾਰ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਅੰਦਰਖਾਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਦਾ-ਪਾਣੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਬਹਾਨੇ ਇਹ ਓਥੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਹ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਖਾੜਕੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਇਥੇ ਠਹਿਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਥਾਣਾ ਮਹਿਣਾ ਦੇ ਐਸ.ਐਚ.ਓ. ਹਰਚਰਨ ਸਿਹੁੰ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਸਾਢੇ ਸੱਤ ਵਜੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਮਿਲੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ‘ਚ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਪਸੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਕੈਂਟਰਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਕਪੂਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਲ ਪਿਆ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਚਾਰੇ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਢਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਘੇਰਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਦ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਬੋਲੇ ਸੋ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਸਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾਬਾਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਹਰੇ ਗਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੁਝਾਰੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਢਾਣੀ ‘ਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਕੇ ਚਰੀ ਦੇ ਖੇਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੋਰਚੇ ਮੱਲ ਲਏ ਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਵੱਧ ਰਹੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਏ.ਕੇ. ਸੰਤਾਲੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਾਈਫ਼ਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਫਾਇਰਿੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਅਖਵਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਧਰਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਲੰਮਿਆਂ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਾਂ ਬਚਾਈਆਂ ਤੇ ਉਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਧਰਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਲੋਟੇ ਰਹੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਨਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ‘ਤੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹਟ ਕੇ ਵੱਟ- ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ।
ਹਰਚਰਨ ਸਿਹੁੰ ਐਸ.ਐਚ.ਓ. ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਖਾੜਕੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰਨਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਾੜਕੂ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਘੇਰਾ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਬੱਚ ਨਿਕਲਣ ‘ਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਥਾਣਾ ਸਦਰ ਮੋਗਾ ਦੇ ਐਸ.ਐਚ.ਓ. ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਸਮੇਤ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸੱਦ ਲਿਆ। ਮੋਗੇ ਦੇ ਡੀ.ਐਸ.ਪੀ. ਦਾ ਗੰਨਮੈਨ ਦਲਬਾਰਾ ਸਿਹੁਂ ਹੌਲਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਬੀ. ਐੱਸ.ਐਫ. ਵੀ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਬੰਦ ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਈ। ਜਗਜੀਤ ਸਿਹੁੰ ਸੀ.ਓ. ਅਤੇ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਾਂਡੈਂਟ ਜੀ.ਐਸ. ਮਲਹੋਤਰਾ ਵੀ ਸੀ.ਆਰ.ਪੀ.ਐਫ. ਦੀਆਂ ਹਥਿਆਰਬੰਦ ਫੋਰਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਲਟ ਪਰੂਫ ਟਰੈਕਟਰਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ‘ਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ ।
ਮਿਤੀ 27 ਜੁਲਾਈ 1991 ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ 28 ਜੁਲਾਈ 1991 ਦੇ ਦੱਸ ਕੁ ਵਜੇ ਤਕ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨੀ ਫੋਰਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ ਪੰਦਰਾਂ ਘੰਟੇ ਜ਼ੋਰਦਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਚਲਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਜਾਂਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਨਿਡਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਫੋਰਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੱਕੂ ਓਥੇ ਹੀ ਠੱਪ ਦਿੰਦੇ। ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਫੋਰਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਹ-ਪੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ। ਸੀਮਤ ਜਿਹੇ ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਨੇ ਧੰਨ-ਧੰਨ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਮੁੱਠੀ ਭਰ ਜੁਝਾਰੂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਡਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਡਾਰਾਂ ਗੋਲੀ ਦਾ ਖੜਾਕ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪਿਛਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਦੀਆਂ ਫਿਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਹਿਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਚਮਕੌਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਡਾਲਾ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਘੇਰਾ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਗਾਂਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਵੱਗ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜਿਓਂ ਲੰਘਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਿੱਚ-ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਬਹਿ-ਬਹਿ ਕੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ‘ਚ ਘੱਟਾ ਪਾ ਗਏ। ਇਧਰ ਗਹਿਗੱਚ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ‘ਚ ਘਿਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਮਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਡਾਲਾ ਸਵੇਰ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਗੋਲ਼ੀ-ਬਰੂਦ ਖਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜੂਝਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਦਾ ਜਾਮ ਪੀ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ‘ਚ ਜਾ ਬਿਰਾਜੇ।
ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਮਿਤ ਪਾਠ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ
ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਮਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਡਾਲਾ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਿਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਲਈ ਪਿੰਡ ਧੂੜਕੋਟ ਕਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਡਾਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ 6 ਅਗਸਤ 1991 ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਖੰਡ ਪਾਠ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ ਪਾਏ ਗਏ। ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰਾਂ ‘ਚ ਜੱਥੇਦਾਰ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੁੱਧਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ, ਭਾਈ ਦਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਿੱਟੂ, ਭਾਈ ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੰਜਵੜ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੋਗਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ਼ਤਿਹਾਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ‘ਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਪਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਸੀ.ਆਰ.ਪੀ ਨੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕਰਫਿਊ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੇਵਲ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਾਸੀ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ‘ਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਨਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਮੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ
ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਜੰਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੁੱਧਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਮਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਡਾਲਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਤੋਂ ਵੀਹ ਕੁ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਥਾਣਾ ਮਹਿਣਾ ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਕ ਏ.ਐੱਸ.ਆਈ. ਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਪੁਲਸੀਏ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਬਜ਼ਾਰ ‘ਚ ਭੁੰਨ ਸੁੱਟੇ ਤੇ ਬੰਤਾ ਸਿਹੁਂ ਕੈਟ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
9 ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਤਸ਼ੱਦਦ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਕ ਲੱਤ ਤੋਂ ਅਪਾਹਿਜ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇਬਾ ਦਾ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ. ਨਵਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਵਾਂਗ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਮੋਰਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਥਕ ਸਰਗਰਮੀਆਂ ‘ਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਨਾਲ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਿਸਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਵਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਕਈ ਕੇਸਾਂ ‘ਚ ਉਲਝਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਬਚਾਅ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
