Bhai Kishan Singh Kanpur was born in the village Kotla Jam, Tehsil Bhakkar, District Mianwali, Pakistan. His father’s name was S. Tikan Singh. From his early childhood, he held a deep reverence for Guru Ghar in his heart. He was a skilled construction worker and always actively participated in panthic activities. He moved from Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan, to settle in Kanpur.
In Kanpur, he became the head of the Gurdwara for his village. After relocating to Kanpur, he worked with SP. Engineering Corporation. For the past four years, he had dedicated his time to the service of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Gurdwara Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib in Gobind Nagar, leading a very humble life.
Bhai Kishan Singh Kanpur was brimming with panthic spirit and a deep sense of patriotism. During the 1960 Punjabi Suba Agitation, he voluntarily arrested himself in a jatha at Gurdwara Sees Ganj Sahib in Delhi and served a six-month prison term before gaining his freedom in January 1961 when the agitation concluded.
He left behind five sons – S. Gurmukh Singh, S. Harnam Singh, S. Avtar Singh, S. Daljit Singh, S. Gurdeep Singh – and a daughter, Darshan Kaur. At the time of his martyrdom, three of his sons were yet to be married.
Before joining the procession, he had shared with his family members that his time had come. He brought his entire family along to the procession.
Bhai Kishan Singh Ji was initially struck on the head with bricks and sticks, followed by three bullets that hit him in the arm, stomach, and shoulder. He was rushed to the hospital, where he received five blood bottles and underwent an operation around 8:30 PM, but unfortunately, no treatment could save him.
Bhai Kishan Singh Ji achieved martyrdom at the age of 64, embracing the Guru’s feet.

ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਾਈ ਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ
ਭਾਈ ਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਕੋਟਲਾ ਜਾਮ, ਤਹਿਸੀਲ ਭੱਖੜ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਮੀਆਂਵਾਲੀ ਦਾ ਸੀ। ਆਪ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਸ. ਟਿਕਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਸੀ। ਬਚਪਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਘਰ ਲਈ ਅਪਾਰ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਸੀ। ਆਪ ਬੜੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਥਕ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਮੋਹਰਲੀ ਕਤਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਆਪ ਡੇਰਾ ਇਸਮਾਈਲ ਖ਼ਾਂ (ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ) ਤੋਂ ਉੱਜੜ ਕੇ ਕਾਨਪੁਰ ਆ ਕੇ ਵੱਸੇ ਸਨ।
ਉਥੇ ਇਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਸਨ। ਕਾਨਪੁਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਐੱਸ.ਪੀ. ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰਿੰਗ ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਹੁਣ ਚਾਰ ਕੁ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗ਼ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਂ ਬਿਤਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਬੜੀ ਸਾਦਗੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਨ-ਨਿਰਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪੰਥਕ ਜਜ਼ਬਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼-ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਕੁੱਟ-ਕੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। 1960 ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਮੋਰਚੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਸੀਸ ਰੋਜ ਵਿਚ ਪੁੱਜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਗਿਰਫਤਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਕੈਦ ਕੱਟੀ। ਜਨਵਰੀ 1961 ਵਿਚ ਮੋਰਚੇ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਏ।
ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਪੰਜ ਲੜਕੇ-ਸ. ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸ. ਹਰਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸ. ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸ. ਦਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਤੇ ਸ. ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਲੜਕੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੌਰ ਛੱਡ ਗਏ। ਓਦੋਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੜਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਦੀਆਂ ਅਜੇ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
ਜਲੂਸ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਥ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜਲੂਸ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਭਾਈ ਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇੱਟਾਂ ਤੇ ਡਾਂਗਾਂ ਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਚ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ, ਇਕ ਬਾਂਹ ਵਿਚ, ਇਕ ਪੇਟ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਮੋਢੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਜਾ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਜ ਬੋਤਲਾਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਸਵਾ ਅੱਠ ਵਜੇ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਆਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਇਲਾਜ ਰਾਸ ਨਾ ਆਇਆ।
ਭਾਈ ਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ 64 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਆਯੂ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਬਿਰਾਜੇ।
